DAOSA sparkling vigneron, Xavier Bizot, has collaborated with renowned South Australian glass artist Nick Mount to design and produce the perfect glass for DAOSA. Each barium crystal glass has been hand-blown by Nick Mount and a small team of highly regarded glass artists, with an incredible degree of skill and accuracy.
The bowl of each glass is blown in a mold turned in applewood – in fact, Xavier cut down his own apple tree to provide the wood for the mold. The stem and foot are made by hand, and each glass proudly displays the subtle variations of hand made glass.
Every DAOSA glass is a unique work of art, to be used, admired and treasured forever.
Nick Mount has been one of the leading figures in the Australian studio glass movement since the early 1970s. He combines virtuoso technique with a keen instinct for design, freely adapting traditional Venetian decorative styles to his own distinctive sculptural approach.
He is recognised for his commissions, teaching and exhibitions in Australia, Europe, South America, the United States and Japan, and his work is represented in many major public and private collections.
