The Terre à Terre Crayères Vineyard Reserve is produced every year by blending the best of the vintage from our unique Crayères Vineyard.
2014 was the first vintage to give us the confidence to make a high quality blend from our low-trellised and close-spaced Crayères vineyard. We decide on the blend after the first year in mostly new French oak from different barrel makers and select the new oak barrels to go into the final Reserve blend. The blend is then aged for up to one year in an old large Foudre (4,000L) barrel. After a light egg white fining, the wine is bottled without filtration and aged in bottle for a further 12-18 months before being released.
The Crayères Vineyard Reserve will always be more representative of the terroir (i.e. the interaction between the soil, the climate and the varieties as orchestrated by the vigneron) than of the varieties that make up the vineyard. The whole is always greater than the sum of the parts.
The Crayères Vineyard Reserve will always benefit from decanting and is made to age for more than one decade.
