The Terre à Terre Summertown Vineyard Reserve is produced from tiny parcels of Pinot Noir planted on an east-facing slope in the heart of the Piccadilly Valley, Adelaide Hills. Buy a six pack and we'll donate $15 from every bottle ($90 per six pack) to the Adelaide Hills Wine Region Fire Appeal to help our neighbouring wineries recover from December's devastating bushfires.

3 small blocks (totalling 0.5 hectare) from the Summertown Vineyard are diverted from sparkling production to make our Reserve Pinot Noir. The soil is clay rich and the climate is very similar to Burgundy.

Planted by Charles “Chilly” Hargrave in 1987, the Summertown Vineyard (Piccadilly Valley) is one of the oldest vineyards in the Adelaide Hills. It is planted with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and the fruit has always been used for sparkling wine – and some years for top end table Chardonnay.
The Summertown vineyard is planted on a north south ridge. The 1987 Chardonnay plantings are on a gentle west facing slope, coming from cuttings from The Tiers Vineyard nearby, and have always been cane pruned. The Pinot Noir plantings sit on the top and the very steep eastern flank of the ridge. Since 2016 vintage, Terre à Terre have continued the long established tradition and used the Chardonnay and the Pinot for sparkling wine under our DAOSA label. We have also converted part of the 1992 Pinot Noir plantings to cane pruning to produce the Summertown Reserve table Pinot Noir.
