Some fine old wrattonbully action here from the Terre à Terre label of Lucy Croser and Xavier Bizot.
They say keep it in the family and that’s what the Croser’s have done; shared the vineyard space, as this fruit hails from a next door plot to Brian Crosers famed Whalebone vineyard. It’s close planted, hand pruned and hand harvested then straight into stainless steel, left on lees with a touch of stirring.
It commands a presence in the glass exhibiting an intensity of flinty edged passionfruit and citrus. Texturally there’s lots of interest with a lightly spiced core that hints at a subtle herbaceousnes and coiled citrus. It has a good line and ends with a satisfying dryness that makes you go back for more. Nicely persistent and full of character for a Savvy. Bring on the oysters.’
