Terre à Terre Crayères Vineyard Shiraz 2015

The Crayères Vineyard is next door to the Whalebone Vineyard atop the limestone ridge in the Wrattonbully region. It was planted in 2008, at 4444 vines per hectare. This wine saw 50% new French oak. Production was 280 dozen.

It’s cool and spicy but it has both the fruit and the ripeness to (well and truly) carry the style. This is an excellent release; stylish; complex; steady-handed but with just enough x-factor. It’s all peppercorns and black pepper, black cherry into plum, and woodsmoke. It’s generally painted in oils but there’s a watercolour aspect. It feels elegant. It feels as though it’s going to mature well. And, as it breathes, a pretty/floral side to its personality is revealed. Very very nice wine. Monty for the medium term cellar.
