Terre a Terre Summertown Vineyard Reserve 2016

From the Summertown Vineyard, planted in 1987. 20% whole bunches, 50% new oak. Historically this vineyard of course has produced pinot noir for sparkling, but a portion of the vineyard is now managed for table pinot noir. Successfully too, by the taste of this release.

This is firm and sinewy, in some ways, but more-ish as well. Not a bad combo. Musky vanillin oak glides over macerated, spicy, cherry-plum fruit. There’s a broodiness to this, an It Needs Time impression, and yet the tanginess about the edges and that coating of creamy oak makes it ever-so-inviting even now. Pretty impression. Should improve with age too.
