Terre a Terre Summertown Vineyard Reserve 2016

A new release under the Terre a Terre label that’s sourced from the Summertown Vineyard in the Piccadilly Valley. The wine was fermented with 20% whole bunches and aged in 50% new oak, two winemaking choices that have been instrumental in defining an attractive but generously structured wine.

The nose has undertones of undergrowth with floral red cherry and top notes of oak induced spice. The palate is firmly structured with taut acidity and drying fine tannins that both underwrite a good cellaring proposition and provide a base from which red cherry and cranberry fruit express themselves. It is amazing how a significant amount of new oak has been absorbed by the wine and only just shows itself as a decadent thread of spice and vanillin richness to finish that will only flourish further over time.
