CREATING CLASSIC AUSTRALIAN WINES

2023 Terre à Terre Crayères Vineyard Reserve Fumé Blanc

With a nod to Bordeaux Blanc and Sancerre in the Loire with the wine making (rather than Fume Blanc style). After 2 months cold stabilisation, fermentation occurred in 6 old 600L French oak “demi-mud” barrels. Aged on full lees for 8 months, then racked across to stainless steel for a month before bottling. Pale lemon hue. nutty and savoury oak and lees influence, over grapefruit skin, wafer biscuit, creamed honey, gooseberry, lemon slice, campfire, jalapeño, raspberry, box hedge. Deliciously potent. Textural and long. Layers of intensity of fruit focus with firm phenolic grip only released by vibrant and cutting acidity.  Balanced and nuanced. Exemplary. Reviewed August 2025.
