2023 Terre à Terre Crayères Vineyard Reserve Fumé Blanc
Light gold with a nose that’s saline and gently tropical with white florals and orange blossom, zesty citrus, passionfruit pith and pear, custard apple, mixed stone fruits, fresh cream, verbena, thyme, dried ginger and gently bruléed toasted spice. In the mouth it’s tight, bright and generously flavoured with a flood of creamy stone fruits, pome, honeydew, white pineapple, tropical citrus and creme fraîche that’s sprinkled with sea salt, supercharged by tense acidity, kissed by spice and gripped with fine grained tannins. This has more in common with a Bordeaux Blanc than your typical new world Sauvignon Blanc and has the structure and a deeper intensity, density and width of fruit flavour than what one might expect. It drives with power and symmetry through to a long tail that is only beginning to unfurl. This has been built with strong foundations and proportions to age and I cannot wait to see this with time under its belt. Serious Aussie Savvy B! Reviewed July 2025.
