CREATING CLASSIC AUSTRALIAN WINES

Terre à Terre Down To Earth Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Arther: Regan Drew | Vino Notebook

“Terre à Terre’s Down To Earth range is their ‘entry level’ range with fruit coming from the 35 million year old soil Crayères vineyard in Wrattonbully (north of Coonawarra).  Fermentation in two parcels: one in Stainless steel (60%) and the rest in large French oak foudres. Aged on lees until bottling. A step up in ABV from the 2021.  Note, Bottle image is of 2021 but nought else has changed.

Very pale lemon straw hue. Clean and vibrant nose with earthy and savoury undertones. Pea straw over lemon citrus, near white peach stone fruit, wet sand, hints of vanilla bean, passion fruit seed and brambly leaf. Vibrancy plays out on the palate too, with compelling, impelling acidity which drives long and fast. Vroom vroom indeed. A ramrod straight spine around which is wrapped drying citrus and stone fruit. Lingering savouriness persists the uniqueness of this label.”
