Crayères Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2019
“With a nod to Bordeaux Blanc and Sancerre in the Loire with the wine making (rather than Fume Blanc style). After 2 months cold stabilisation, fermentation occurred in 6 old 600L French oak “demi-muid” barrels. Aged on full lees for 8 months, then racked across to stainless steel for a month before bottling.
Pale lemon-gold in colour. Rich and expressive nut cream, milky café au lait, hints of vanilla blossom, an espy of orange tropical fruit for varietal signature with ground ginger, apple skin, beach sand and lemon pith. A structurally textural, tight and intense palate with yeasty savoury elements underpinning spiced fruit. Long and dry with undeniable presence. Excellent.”
