CREATING CLASSIC AUSTRALIAN WINES

Terre à Terre Crayères Vineyard 2021 Cabernet Franc

Arther: Erin Larkin | Wine Advocate

“The 2022 Crayeres Vineyard Cabernet Franc Shiraz comprises 91% Cabernet Franc and 9% Shiraz from the Crayeres vineyard in Wrattonbully. The vineyard lies atop a 37-million-year limestone ridge. The fruit was handpicked, fermented in open-top fermenters separately by variety, pressed to tank for malolactic fermentation and then matured in old French oak barriques and foudres for 14 months. The wine is light in the glass and leads with aromas of white chocolate, cranberry, goji berry and aniseed. In the mouth, the wine is littered with pervasive, grippy tannins that provide real speed bumps on the road to progress across the palate. This is built for years beyond now, and I feel drinking it too early will not allow it to offer its full potential. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.”
