Terre à Terre Crayères Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2016
It’s from a close-planted vineyard at Wrattonbully and it goes into 600 litre oak, 25% new. This is the Crayères Vineyard release, as opposed to the Down To Earth and Crayères Vineyard Reserve releases.
It’s soft and slinky, no doubt oak aided, with a tonne of fruit flavour to go with it. This is a wine to make violets shrink. It’s viscous, loaded with cedar and honey-like flavours, minty, and bursting with tropical fruit. Acidity, barley- and lemongrass-infused, slashes through the finish but it draws the fruit (and oak) with it. Everything pulls together here. The oak is obvious, certainly, but it’s an excellent example of its style.
