Down to Earth Sauvignon Blanc 2020
ozwinereview.com – Andrew Graham
“This Down to Earth Sauvignon Blanc 2020 is one of the few, new-release Australian Sauvignon that needs to be cellared.
Australian Sauvignon Blanc. Already a year old. Still needs cellaring. Now there’s a rare beast.
Anyway, this partially barrel-matured Wrattonbully Sauvignon Blanc is more in the mode of white Bordeaux. A long way from the pyrazine-laden, cat-pee-on-a-gooseberry-bush, hard-edged, alcoholic cliche of many Savvy B. Instead, the varietal character takes a back seat, save for some lemon citrus. It’s shy, tangy and lean, but you can see the leanings – texture is just a step away.
But for now? It’s pre-pubescent, tart and will have you questioning what all the fuss is about. Hold.
Terre á Terre Down to Earth Sauvignon Blanc 2020. Best drinking: give it 18 months, at least. History dictates this will still be alive in 5 years without fuss.” 17/20, 90/100+
