CREATING CLASSIC AUSTRALIAN WINES

Terre à Terre Crayères Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2023

I’ve said it before and I’m happy to say it again, this Terre à Terre Crayères Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is the best in Australia. The considered wine making, detail and interest all ensure it rises to the top with ease.

What struck me most particularly about this 2023 release was the price. I had to do a double-take when I saw the RRP. Reduced to $35, that’s $15 less than the previous releases. That is not something you usually see but an adjustment of sorts to where top tier Sauvignon Blanc sits in the market perhaps?

From close planted vines (1.5m x 1.5m) on Terra Rossa soil in the Wrattonbully region, the fruit was whole bunch pressed and fermented in large format French oak.

Coming from a cool vintage (cooler than the 2011), the creamy texture and layered complexity are the heros. Lemon grass, lemon juice and passionfruit curd muse and deliver a wine with a delightful presence and grip. Such a food friendly delight, there is a ruby grapefruit tang that adds energy on close. And that length! Another excellent release.
