“Very well crafted and finely balanced” 93 Ken Gargett

CREATING CLASSIC AUSTRALIAN WINES

Terre à Terre Crayères Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2020

“These days, most take the easy option with Savvy. Pick, make, bottle and get it on the shelves asap, to get the dollars in just months after harvest. Not so here. This is a serious attempt to turn Sauvignon Blanc into a premium variety with all the complexity and age-worthiness of the best Chardonnays. As with all the wines in this release, this comes from the Crayères Vineyard in Wrattonbully. It was whole bunch pressed before fermen in 600-litre older oak demi-muids. A further eight months in the demi-muids followed, on full lees with no batonnage. 750 six-packs.

Deep lemon in colour, it is immediately obvious that this has complexity over and above what one normally expects from this variety. Notes of rockmelon, quince, fresh pastry, nuts and a touch of the tropicals. Very well crafted and finely balanced, this has excellent length and the intensity goes the full distance with some peach notes emerging on the palate. This is not cheap for what one expects with Savvy these days, but this is far from your typical Savvy. Definitely worth trying.”
