Terre à Terre Sauvignon Blanc
It is always amazing to see how the Vertical Shoot Positioning (VSP) trellis is perfectly suited to Sauvignon Blanc. We have more vigour here, which we want to reduce bunch exposure of our Sauvignon Blanc vines.
Terre à Terre Cabernet Sauvignon
We drove down to see very neat vineyard rows which have just been trained, and wires have just been lifted. The Cabernet Sauvignon shoots are still growing and the vineyard is halfway through fruit set. The vines are very healthy and balanced, the lower temperature / lower rainfall is a good combination and we do not see much unwanted shoot growth at this stage, and canopy is close to perfection.
Terre à Terre Shiraz and Cabernet Franc
The 2008 plantings of Shiraz (green posts) and Cabernet Franc (blue posts) are looking more balanced than the previous years, partly vine age and partly the effect of good decisions at pruning. Like 2012, we plan not to trim the Shiraz canes and just tie them along the higher set of wires. The Cabernet Franc looks fantastic, slightly more vigorous than the Cabernet Sauvignon, but still excellent bunch exposure.
