Down to Earth Sauvignon Blanc 2015

From a particularly close-planted vineyard next to the Whalebone Vineyard planted in 2004 and 2013. Almost 30% of the blend was picked a bit later and fermented very slowly in large foudres. Racy, sappy nose with distinctive character – by which I mean it does not taste remotely like a Marlborough Sauvignon. Some grassiness with a herbal note and strong lemon peel on the finish. Real grip on the finish although there is no perceptible oak flavour. Particularly long. Very juicy indeed and it builds impressively towards the finish. The build is not unlike Araujo Sauvignon used to be.
